Rabi Oscillations in Systems with Small Anharmonicity [PDF]

open access: yesLow Temp. Phys. 32,198 (2006), 2004
When a two-level quantum system is irradiated with a microwave signal, in resonance with the energy difference between the levels, it starts Rabi oscillation between those states. If there are other states close, in energy, to the first two, the Rabi signal will also induce transition to those.

Designed Biomaterial‐Enhanced Cell Transplantation for Neural Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Biomaterials offer a promising solution for cell transplantation in the central nervous system by creating a protective environment that enhances cell survival, integration, and functional recovery in preclinical models of neurological disorders. ABSTRACT Cell transplantation therapy in the central nervous system is hindered by limited survival and ...

A Century Spent Combating Rabies in Morocco (1911–2015): How Much Longer?

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2017
Rabies has no known beginning in Morocco and to date, government control efforts and plans fail to eradicate the disease. A review and analysis of available epidemiological data are crucial to learn lessons from the past and to propose effective actions.

Using the LN34 Pan-Lyssavirus Real-Time RT-PCR Assay for Rabies Diagnosis and Rapid Genetic Typing from Formalin-Fixed Human Brain Tissue

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Human rabies post mortem diagnostic samples are often preserved in formalin. While immunohistochemistry (IHC) has been routinely used for rabies antigen detection in formalin-fixed tissue, the formalin fixation process causes nucleic acid fragmentation ...

Quantum Theory of a Bose-Einstein Condensate out of Equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Communication, 249, 587-593 (2005), 2005
We consider the interaction between a single-mode quantized perturbing external field and a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) out of equilibrium. The usual Rabi type oscillations between the ground and the excited state of the coherent topological modes are observed with a Rabi frequency modified by the two-body atomic interactions.

Rabies and the Heart

open access: yesCardiology Research, 2021
As one of the neglected diseases, rabies is as a highly fatal viral infection, most prevalent in low- and middle-income regions, which produces a substantial health and economic burden. It mainly affects the central nervous system causing encephalitis, however extraneuronal involvement has been documented.

Inactivated Rabies Virus-Vectored Immunocontraceptive Vaccine in a Thermo-Responsive Hydrogel Induces High and Persistent Antibodies against Rabies, but Insufficient Antibodies against Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone for Contraception

open access: yesVaccines, 2019
Rabies is preventable through vaccination, but the need to mount annual canine vaccination campaigns presents major challenges in rabies control and prevention.

Green‐to‐red spectral labeling: A novel polysynaptic retrograde tracing strategy in the marker footprint mouse model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
To compensate for the fluorescence loss in rabies virus–derived neuronal tracing tools caused by non‐cytolytic immune clearance (NCLIC) in retrograde tracing, we developed a novel green‐to‐red spectral labeling (GTR) strategy based on the NCLIC phenomenon and developed a novel marker footprints mouse to support the strategy.
