Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Irradiated Atmosphere. V. Effects of Vertical-mixing Induced Energy Transport on the Inhomogeneity
Atmospheric variations over time and space boost planetary cooling, as outgoing internal flux responds to stellar radiation and opacity. Vertical mixing regulates this cooling.

Analysis of Radiative Transfer Characteristics for Underwater Hyperspectral LiDAR
Targeting the long-term goal of synchronous acquisition of underwater terrain and material composition information, this study establishes a radiative transfer model for underwater hyperspectral LiDAR (UDHSL) and systematically verifies the effects of ...

Quantum algorithm for the radiative-transfer equation
The radiation transfer equation is widely used for simulations, for example, heat transfer in engineering, diffuse optical tomography in healthcare, and radiation hydrodynamics in astrophysics. By combining the lattice Boltzmann method, we propose a quantum algorithm for radiative transfer.

A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Irradiated Atmospheres. III. Radiative-convective-mixing Equilibrium for Nongray Picket-fence Model
The nongray picket-fence model predicts more accurately the temperatures in low-density regions compared to semigray models. This study investigates how the vertical-mixing and convection fluxes modify the picket-fence model.

Retrievals of sea surface temperature from infrared imagery: origin and form of systematic errors [PDF]
We show that retrievals of sea surface temperature from satellite infrared imagery are prone to two forms of systematic error: prior error (familiar from the theory of atmospheric sounding) and error arising from nonlinearity.
