Reflection and transmission of solar light by clouds: asymptotic theory [PDF]
The authors introduce a radiative transfer model CLOUD for reflection, transmission, and absorption characteristics of terrestrial clouds and discuss the accuracy of the approximations used within the model. A Fortran implementation of CLOUD is available

We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Equilibrium and non-equilibrium diffusion approximation for the radiative transfer equation
In this paper, we study the distribution of the temperature within a body where the heat is transported only by radiation. Specifically, we consider the situation where both emission-absorption and scattering processes take place.

P4bm framework in NaNbO3‐Ba(Ti, Hf)O3 ferrodistortive relaxor entails short‐range and highly‐polar ferrodistortive orders. The abundant highly‐polar orders facilitate to increase entropy change, and robust octahedral oxygen tilt enables to impede thermal perturbations.

Spin Injection Of Exciton–Polaritons With Halide Perovskites At Room Temperature
A monolithic Tamm‐plasmon microcavity embedding a two‐dimensional halide perovskite enables room‐temperature spin injection of exciton‐polaritons under quasi‐resonant optical excitation. Polarization‐resolved spectroscopy reveals partial preservation of the injected spin in the lower polariton branch, while bare excitons remain fully depolarized.

A single frequency approach to nonequilibrium modeling of the chromosphere
Context. The solar chromosphere is a region where radiation plays a critical role in energy transfer and interacts strongly with the plasma. In this layer, strong spectral lines, such as the Lyman lines, contribute significantly to radiative energy ...

In situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy resolves oxidation states with high fidelity during the pulsed laser deposition of multivalent perovskite manganate and vanadate heterostructures. The chemical‐state signature is carried by the valence‐electron population of the transition‐metal cation, read out through the relative intensities of Auger fine ...

Two‐Streams Revisited: General Equations, Exact Coefficients, and Optimized Closures
Two‐Stream Equations are the most parsimonious general models for radiative flux transfer with one equation to model each of upward and downward fluxes; these are coupled due to the transfer of fluxes between hemispheres.
