Combination of Analytical Pyrolysis and fractionation of technical lignin as a tool for improvement of its antioxidant properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Antioxidant properties of parent lignin and its fractions was assessed in the tests with free radicals ABTS•+ and DPPH. Increasing ratio between content of syringyl and guaiacyl substructures and the extent of conjugation of lignin macromolecule (Py-GC ...

The radicals of a semigroup [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1975
This paper investigates various radicals and radical congruences of a semigroup. A strongly prime ideal is defined. It is shown that the nil radical of a semigroup is the intersection of all strongly prime ideals of the semigroup. Furthermore, a semigroup with zero element is nil if and only if it has no strongly prime ideals.

Single‐cell insights into the role of T cells in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell technologies have transformed our understanding of T cell–tumor cell interactions in B‐cell malignancies, revealing new T‐cell subsets, functional states, and immune evasion mechanisms. This Review synthesizes these findings, highlighting the roles of T cells in pathogenesis, progression, and therapy response, and underscoring their ...

Radical Care

open access: yesSocial Text, 2020
This article introduces the topic of radical care by providing a genealogy of care as a vital but underexamined praxis of radical politics that provides spaces of hope in precarious times. Following recent theoretical interventions into the importance of

Cyclic nucleotide signaling as a drug target in retinitis pigmentosa

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Disruptions in cGMP and cAMP signaling can contribute to retinal dysfunction and photoreceptor loss in retinitis pigmentosa. This perspective examines the mechanisms and evaluates emerging evidence on targeting these pathways as a potential therapeutic strategy to slow or prevent retinal degeneration.

Ag nanoparticle-enhanced alkyl radical generation in photopolymerization for holographic recording

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2019
We report a new Ag nanoparticle-dispersed polymer nanocomposite for volume holographic recording through acrylic photopolymerization. The initial grating buildup dynamics at the inhibition stage are measured at various Ag nanoparticle concentrations. The

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

Radicals in the class of compact right topological rings

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2014
We construct in this article three radicals in the class of compact right topological rings. We prove also that a simple left Noetherian compact right topological ring is finite.
