Radicinin from Cochliobolus sp. inhibits Xylella fastidiosa , the causal agent of Pierce’s Disease of grapevine

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 2015
The fastidious phytopathogenic bacterium, Xylella fastidiosa, poses a substantial threat to many economically important crops, causing devastating diseases including Pierce's Disease of grapevine. Grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.) planted in an area under Pierce's Disease pressure often display differences in disease severity and symptom expression, with ...

An efficient synthesis of radicinin analogues

open access: yesTetrahedron, 1995
Abstract We describe herein an enantio- and diastereoselective total synthesis of two radicinin analogues 13 and 14. 13 has been subjected to biological tests, exhibiting the lowest toxicity of all radicinin analogues that have been investigated to date and it depresses the heart ventricular strip and histamine contraction.

Phytotoxins from Alternaria helianthi: radicinin, and the structures of deoxyradicinol and radianthin

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 1985
Abstract A novel compound, radianthin, with phytotoxic activity was isolated from liquid cultures of Alternaria helianthi and identified as a pyrone related to radicinin. A second metabolite was identified as radicinin itself while deoxyradicinol is described for the first time as a natural product.

Radicinin: A metabolite from Stemphylium radicinum. I. Chemistry and action

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1955
Abstract The conditions for the growth of Sterad and isolation of radicinin are described. The formula C12H12O5 was established for this compound by preparation and analyses of several derivatives. Degradation and spectrophotometric studies were employed to establish the molecular formula.

Effect of cultural conditions on the production of radicinin, a specific fungal phytotoxin for buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris) biocontrol, by different Cochlioboulus australiensis strains

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2019
Radicinin is a phytotoxic fungal dihydropyranopyran-4,5-dione under evaluation for the development of a target-specific bioherbicide for invasive buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris) control. It has already demonstrated high toxicity on host plants, low toxicity to native plants and no negative effects on zebrafish embryos.
