Conformal radiotherapy for prostate cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine, 2000
This review presents the contribution conformal treatment has made to the external beam treatment of prostate cancer drawing on 10 years of experience with three-dimensional conformal radiation treatment in 1500 patients with prostate cancer at our institution.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients Unfit for Resection, Ablation, or Chemotherapy: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Purpose. The purpose is to evaluate the feasibility, efficacy, and the toxicity of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) in patients with advanced hepatocelluar carcinoma (HCC) and inferior vena cava tumor thrombosis (IVCTT). Methods.

Dosimetric consequences of the shift towards computed tomography guided target definition and planning for breast conserving radiotherapy

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2008
Background The shift from conventional two-dimensional (2D) to three-dimensional (3D)-conformal target definition and dose-planning seems to have introduced volumetric as well as geometric changes.

Adjuvant Radiotherapy with Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy of Lacrimal Gland Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2015
Background & Aim: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of lacrimal gland is a rare tumour with aggressive behaviour. There is sparse data to address optimum therapy for such tumours.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Prognostic factors in radiotherapy of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma: a single center study over 31 years

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2023
Background Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma has a very poor prognosis. We analyzed the effect of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy on survival time and side effects in patients with ATC.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Effects of Conformal Radiotherapy on Thyroid and Parathyroid Functions in Head-and-neck Carcinoma: A Single-institutional, Prospective, and Observational Study

open access: yesJournal of Radiation and Cancer Research
Introduction: Assessment of acute and late effects of conformal radiotherapy on thyroid and parathyroid functions along with the evaluation of Dosimetric correlation with radiation-induced hypothyroidism (RIH) was the purpose of this study.

External beam accelerated partial breast irradiation: dosimetric assessment of conformal and three different intensity modulated techniques

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology, 2019
The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare four different external beam radiotherapy techniques of accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) considering target coverage, dose to organs at risk and overall plan quality.
