Dwelling in a post‐fallout landscape: re‐shaping and sustaining life in a former evacuation zone in Fukushima Habiter après la catastrophe : redonner forme au monde et entretenir la vie dans une ancienne zone évacuée à Fukushima

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
This article explores the activities of daily life in a village neighbouring the TEPCO nuclear power plant in Fukushima. It argues that one of the potentials of taking a dwelling perspective – a phenomenological approach to living within the ecological and social environments – emerges most compellingly within a polluted landscape.

Impact of Chemotherapy on Sperm Functional Characteristics in Patients With Testicular Germ Cell Tumours

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Testicular germ cell tumours (TGCT) are the most common malignancies among young men and represent a major threat to reproductive health. Both the disease itself and oncological treatments, particularly chemotherapy, can compromise spermatogenesis and semen quality.

SMURF1 Regulates CTCF‐HOXA10 Axis and Promotes Tumor Progression in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Our study showed that SMURF1 was significantly upregulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and promoted tumor progression and SMURF1 promoted K48‐linked ubiquitination degradation of CTCF. ABSTRACT The aberrant upregulation of Homeobox A10 (HOXA10) has been implicated in the progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), but the mechanisms driving ...

Hyperspectral Estimation of Leaf Nitrogen Content in White Radish Based on Feature Selection and Integrated Learning

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Nitrogen is the main nutrient element in the growth process of white radish, and accurate monitoring of radish leaf nitrogen content (LNC) is an important guide for precise fertilization decisions for radish in the field.

Revealing seeding combinations of chili with brinjal, radish and coriander in a mixed cropping system to increase the productivity and profitability in Char ecosystem of subtropical climate [PDF]

open access: yesInnovations in Agriculture
Mixed cropping is an important cropping system in char areas without an optimum seeding combination of chili, brinjal, radish and coriander. To identify this an experiment was conducted in two consecutive years to find suitable seeding ratio and to ...

Ligand‐specific tuning of CLEC10A signalling strength and dendritic cell responses through engagement of different GalNAc‐containing glycan structures

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The authors investigated the effects of various glycan ligands for CLEC10A, a lectin receptor expressed on dendritic cells (DCs). Monocyte‐derived DCs were stimulated with glycan‐conjugated dendrimers in combination with the TLR1/2 ligand Pam3CysK4, and responses were investigated at the mRNA and protein level.

Estimating nutrient uptake requirements for radish in China based on QUEFTS model

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Imbalanced fertilization has caused lower yield and nutrient use efficiency for radish (Raphanus sativus L.) production in China. Estimating nutrient requirements for radish is crucial in optimizing fertilization to resolve the problem.

Selective targeting of cortactin tandem repeat acetylation by human lysine deacetylases

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cortactin function is regulated by acetylation at several lysine residues within its tandem repeat region. Using genetic code expansion to generate cortactin variants containing precisely defined acetylation marks, we show that HDAC6 is the primary enzyme removing these modifications, with SIRT1 and SIRT2 also acting at selected sites but with lower ...

Metabolome analysis elucidates the mechanism of radish taproot hollowness during the storage [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural
: The hollowness phenomenon of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) root is very easy to occur during the storage, which seriously affects its quality. “Weixian radish” was used as the test material, and metabolomics technology and multivariate statistical ...

Investigation into the delivery and evaluation of a unique Avena sativa (Oat) Lipid Extract on skin barrier using LC‒MS/MS, Raman spectroscopy, immunostaining analysis and skin efficacy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Oat lipids are rich in ceramides. In this investigation, we analysed the delivery of a specific Oat Lipid Extract derived from Avena sativa, comprising ‘skin identical’ ratios of fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol/sterol. This investigation is the first reported investigation of oat lipids utilizing Raman spectroscopy for the ...
