Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

The Projection-by-Projection (PbP) criterion for multiaxial random fatigue loadings: Guidelines to practical implementation [PDF]
This work is motivated by the increasing interest towards the application of the Projection-by-Projection (PbP) spectral method in finite element (FE) analysis of components under multiaxial random loadings.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Expanding Window Compressed Sensing for Non-Uniform Compressible Signals
Many practical compressible signals like image signals or the networked data in wireless sensor networks have non-uniform support distribution in their sparse representation domain. Utilizing this prior information, a novel compressed sensing (CS) scheme

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Fast Fusion Clustering via Double Random Projection
In unsupervised learning, clustering is a common starting point for data processing. The convex or concave fusion clustering method is a novel approach that is more stable and accurate than traditional methods such as k-means and hierarchical clustering.

In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

The performance of the high dimensional multivariate data analysis is seriously affected by the curse of dimensionality. Feature extraction acts as an important pre-processing step in data analysis process to avoid the curse of dimensionality.

Almost Random Projection Machine [PDF]
Backpropagation of errors is not only hard to justify from biological perspective but also it fails to solve problems requiring complex logic. A simpler algorithm based on generation and filtering of useful random projections has better biological justification, is faster, easier to train and may in practice solve non-separable problems of higher ...
