Biodiesel and vegetable oil market in European Union: some evidences from threshold cointegration analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we analyse the long-run relationships between vegetable oils prices and conventional diesel price in EU during the period 2005- 2007. We utilise recent developments on threshold cointegration approach to investigate if asymmetric dynamic ...

A Machine Learning Approach to Predict Functional Performance From Measurable Protein Structural Characteristics: A Screening Tool for Protein Ingredient Quality

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The food industry is witnessing the emergence of specialized protein‐based functional ingredients for the use as gelling, thickening, and/or emulsifying agents in various food applications. Different sources of protein including species and cultivars, as well as variable processing conditions affect the protein's structural characteristics ...

Camelina success story [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Camelina sativa is an ancient oilseed crop, which has been cultivated in Europe during the iron and bronze ages. The seeds contain about 40 % oil. Camelina oil has an excellent fatty acid composition: 40 % omega-3 fatty acids and 16 % omega-6 fatty ...

Transport engineering as a strategy to realize rapeseed's potential as a protein‐rich food

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The heavily pesticide‐dependent rapeseed is an under‐utilized protein source for food owing to anti‐nutritional glucosinolates. Transport engineering technology may reduce glucosinolates in seeds while increasing defense in vegetative parts. Abstract Rapeseed is the world's second‐largest oilseed crop, and the low‐value press cake that remains after ...

SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, restores pyrethroid efficacy against cabbage stem flea beetle but negatively impacts its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, inhibited key metabolic pathways associated with pyrethroid insecticide resistance in cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB) and its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae. SYN‐A restored pyrethroid efficacy against resistant CSFB allowing up to 80% reduction in application rates.

Synthetic polymer nanocarrier enhances dsRNA stability but not RNAi efficacy in Brassicogethes aeneus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Experimental setup for dsRNA feeding in Brassicogethes aeneus to evaluate the effect of a synthetic polymer nanocarrier on RNAi efficiency. The experiment assessed whether the nanocarrier enhances RNAi after oral dsRNA delivery. (a) Stability of dsRNA–nanocarrier complexes was tested in simulated gut conditions. (b) Gene expression of αCOP and dre4 was
