Ras signalling in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe [PDF]

open access: yes
Ras signalling is vital to many cellular processes. Ras proteins mediate a vast array of cellular signalling networks, and are conserved from humans to unicellular eukaryotes.

Comparison of K-Ras and N-Ras Mutagenic Hot Spots for UVC Damage

open access: yes, 2019
It has been well established that mutations in K-Ras and N-Ras proto-oncogenes can convert them into active oncogenes. Current molecular cancer research has been focused on determining the key steps by which cellular genes become oncogenes and not on the

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Discovery of a ‘Grail-Shaped’ Drug: Ne-ratinib and the Downregulation of Mutant RAS

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Oncology, 2019
It has been stated that developing a drug that can attack mutated RAS proteins is ‘the Holy Grail’ of cancer therapeutics. Through a series of unexpected findings, the authors discovered that the irreversible epidermal growth factor receptor 1/2/4 ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Ras and Ras mutations in cancer

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2013
Abstract Ras genes are pre-eminent genes that are frequently linked with cancer biology. The functional loss of ras protein caused by various point mutations within the gene, is established as a prognostic factor for the genesis of a constitutively active Ras-MAPK pathway leading to cancer. Ras signaling circuit follows a complex pathway,

Generation of specific antibodies against the rap1A, rap1B and rap2 small GTP-binding proteins. Analysis of rap and ras proteins in membranes from mammalian cells

open access: yes, 1992
Specific antibodies against rap1A and rap1B small GTP-binding proteins were generated by immunization of rabbits with peptides derived from the C-terminus of the processed proteins.
