Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

On the structure of compatible rational functions [PDF]
A finite number of rational functions are compatible if they satisfy the compatibility conditions of a first-order linear functional system involving differential, shift and q-shift operators. We present a theorem that describes the structure of compatible rational functions.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Hurwitz rational functions [PDF]
A generalization of Hurwitz stable polynomials to real rational functions is considered. We establish an analog of the Hurwitz stability criterion for rational functions and introduce a new type of determinants that can be treated as a generalization of ...

Triangular C2 Interpolants by Piecewise Rational Functions
In this paper a C2 interpolation scheme on a triangle is presented. The interpolant assumes given values and derivatives of orders up to 2 at the vertices of the triangle. It is made up of partial interpolants blended with weight functions.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Tangent spaces of rational matrix functions [PDF]
We consider the task of determining tangent spaces for classes of rational matrix valued functions. Our analysis is based on methods from control theory, and in particular the theory of polynomial models.

Some inequalities for rational function with prescribed poles and restricted zeros
In this article, we first prove some auxiliary results in the form of lemmas using an improved Schwarz lemma at the boundary recently proved by Mercer. Furthermore, we establish some new inequalities for rational functions on the unit disk in the complex

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

On rational functions without Froissart doublets [PDF]
In this talk we consider the problem of working with rational functions in a numeric environment. A particular problem when modelling with such functions is the existence of Froissart doublets, where a zero is close to a pole.
