Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

A Characterization of Rational Functions

open access: yesThe American Mathematical Monthly
We give an elementary characterization of rational functions among meromorphic functions in the complex plane.

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

An analogue of Montel’s theorem for some classes of rational functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
summary:For sequences of rational functions, analytic in some domain, a theorem of Montel’s type is proved. As an application, sequences of rational functions of the best $L_p$-approximation with an unbounded number of finite poles are ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

On one rational integral operator of Fourier – Chebyshev type and approximation of Markov functions

open access: yesЖурнал Белорусского государственного университета: Математика, информатика, 2020
The purpose of this paper is to construct an integral rational Fourier operator based on the system of Chebyshev – Markov rational functions and to study its approximation properties on classes of Markov functions. In the introduction the main results of

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Rational choice by two sequential criteria [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper contributes to the theory of rational choice under multiple criteria. We perform a preliminary study of the properties of decision made by the sequential application of rational choices.

A note on integration of rational functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
summary:Let $P$ and $Q$ be polynomials in one variable with complex coefficients and let $n$ be a natural number. Suppose that $Q$ is not constant and has only simple roots.
