The rational points close to a curve II [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 2000
In the introduction to this paper, the author succinctly states the basic problem as follows: ``If a function \(f(x)\) takes values which are approximately rational at integer points or at rational points, is \(f(x)\) approximately a rational function?'' Alternatively, if \(f\) cannot be approximated over a long interval \([0,M]\) by a rational ...

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

A Boundedness theorem for nearby slopes of holonomic D-modules

open access: yes, 2015
Using twisted nearby cycles, we define a new notion of slopes for complex holonomic D-modules. We prove a boundedness result for these slopes, study their functoriality and use them to characterize regularity.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Obstructions to existence of rational points on curves from subgroups of the Brauer group

open access: yes, 2019
It is widely expected that, if a curve over a global field has no rational points, that there is an obstruction to existence of rational points coming from the Brauer group. One piece of evidence for this is an heuristic due to Poonen.

Rational Functions with Prescribed Critical Points [PDF]

open access: yesGeometrical and Functional Analysis GAFA, 2002
A rational function is the ratio of two complex polynomials in one variable without common roots. Its degree is the maximum of the degrees of the numerator and the denominator. Rational functions belong to the same class if one turns into the other by the postcomposition with a linear-fractional transformation.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Arithmetic of rational points and zero-cycles on Kummer varieties

open access: yes, 2018
Yongqi Liang has shown that for rationally connected varieties over a number field K, sufficiency of the Brauer-Manin obstruction to the existence of rational points over all finite extensions of K implies sufficiency of the Brauer-Manin obstruction to ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
