Measuring center of pressure signals to quantify human balance using multivariate multiscale entropy by designing a force platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Copyright © 2013 by the authors. To assess the improvement of human body balance, a low cost and portable measuring device of center of pressure (COP), known as center of pressure and complexity monitoring system (CPCMS), has been developed for data ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Experimental and first-principles investigation on how support morphology determines the performance of the Ziegler-Natta catalyst during ethylene polymerization

open access: yesScientific Reports
One class of the Ziegler–Natta catalysts (ZNC) – the TiCl4/MgCl2 having triethyl aluminum (AlEt3), has been widely utilized during ethylene polymerization.

Experimental and first-principles insights into an enhanced performance of Ru-doped copper phosphate electrocatalyst during oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Chemical Engineering
The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a vital half-reaction in many applications, such as the electrochemical H2O splitting, CO2, and N2 conversion processes. The OER involves a four-electron transfer and is a kinetically sluggish reaction that requires

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Efficient Destruction of Pollutants in Water by a Dual-Reaction-Center Fenton-like Process over Carbon Nitride Compounds-Complexed Cu(II)-CuAlO2

open access: yes, 2018
Carbon nitride compounds (CN) complexed with the in-situ-produced Cu(II) on the surface of CuAlO2 substrate (CN-Cu(II)-CuAlO2) is prepared via a surface growth process for the first time and exhibits exceptionally high activity and efficiency for the ...

Sustainable ethyl lactate synthesis over MgAl-LDHs: impact of Mg/Al ratio and structural tuning

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences
Ethyl lactate, an environmentally benign solvent gaining attention in industrial applications, is primarily synthesized via the esterification of lactic acid and ethanol over acid catalysts.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
