Clinical and laboratory differences between primary acute and reactivation of chronic Epstein-Barr viral infection in children (systematic review and meta-analysis)

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва), 2022
At the moment, the clinical differences between primary acute and reactivation of chronic infection caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) have not been fully studied. The aim is to identify clinical and laboratory differences between primary acute and ...

Structural network heterogeneities and network dynamics: a possible dynamical mechanism for hippocampal memory reactivation

open access: yes, 2006
The hippocampus has the capacity for reactivating recently acquired memories [1-3] and it is hypothesized that one of the functions of sleep reactivation is the facilitation of consolidation of novel memory traces [4-11].

Real-World Effectiveness of Antiviral Prophylaxis for Preventing Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Reactivation in Patients Undergoing Immunosuppressive Therapy

open access: yesViruses
This study evaluated the characteristics of patients receiving prophylactic antiviral therapy against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection due to immunosuppressive treatment and assessed the occurrence of HBV reactivation.

Efficient Non-Epigenetic Activation of HIV Latency through the T-Cell Receptor Signalosome

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) can either undergo a lytic pathway to cause productive systemic infections or enter a latent state in which the integrated provirus remains transcriptionally silent for decades. The ability to latently infect T-

Changes in serologic markers of hepatitis B in autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients

open access: yesJournal of Applied Hematology, 2016
Introduction: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the most prominent health threats worldwide. Hepatitis B exacerbation is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients who are the candidates of cytotoxic, immunosuppressive therapy ...

Reactive arthritis

open access: yesPolish Archives of Internal Medicine, 2009
Reactive arthritis (ReA) is a non-purulent joint inflammation that usually follows bacterial gastrointenstinal or urogenital infections. The classic presentation of ReA is characterized by an asymmetric arthritis usually in the lower limbs associated with urethritis, conjunctivitis and occurrence of other articular or extra-articular manifestations ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Profiling the Blood Compartment of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Patients During Human Cytomegalovirus Reactivation

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2021
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a widespread pathogen establishing a latent infection in its host. HCMV reactivation is a major health burden in immunocompromised individuals, and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality following hematopoietic stem ...

The effect of Midazolam and Propranolol on fear memory reconsolidation in ethanol-withdrawn rats: Influence of D-cycloserine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Withdrawal from chronic ethanol facilitates the formation of contextual fear memory and delays the onset to extinction, with its retrieval promoting an increase in ethanol consumption.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
