Quantification of DNA by Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2018There are few differences between the experimental steps necessary for amplifying template DNA in a real-time thermocycler and a standard polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In real-time PCR, it is necessary, however, to optimize the concentration of primers and probe and to perform a standard curve.

Detection of Plasmodium knowlesi by Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2009We previously developed a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for detection of the four Plasmodium species that infect humans. Recent studies have shown that natural transmission of the simian parasite Plasmodium knowlesi to humans occurs frequently in Southeast Asia. We have expanded our PCR assay to include detection of P. knowlesi.

Real-Time Quantitative Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction
2010The real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RQ-PCR) has become the method of choice for the quantification of specific mRNAs. This method is fast, extremely sensitive, and accurate, requires only very small amounts of input RNA, and is relatively simple to perform.

Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction and Melting Curve Analysis
2006Monitoring polymerase chain reaction (PCR) once each cycle is a powerful method to detect and quantify the presence of nucleic acid sequences and has become known as "real-time" PCR. Absolute quantification of initial template copy number can be obtained, although quantification relative to a control sample or second sequence is often adequate. Melting

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Real-Time PCR
2013The PCR technique, developed over 3 decades ago, has revolutionized molecular biology. PCR applications encompass several fields, including genetics, molecular cloning, diagnosis of infectious and hereditary diseases, and forensic sciences. Improvements of the PCR technique have resulted in its expansion to include variants such as reverse ...
