Real-time rendering on a power budget

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2016
With recent advances on mobile computing, power consumption has become a significant limiting constraint for many graphics applications. As a result, rendering on a power budget arises as an emerging demand. In this paper, we present a real-time, power-optimal rendering framework to address this problem, by finding the optimal

Real-time rendering of woven clothes

Proceedings of the ACM symposium on Virtual reality software and technology, 2003
Virtual environments containing humans moving and performing actions in real time are ubiquitous in computer graphics applications. Such characters are often clothed in woven fabrics. This paper presents a technique for visualizing woven clothes in real time, while optimizing the realistic appearance. The proposed approach supports rendering of complex

Real-time rendering of artificial guidance

SMC 2000 Conference Proceedings. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. 'Cybernetics Evolving to Systems, Humans, Organizations, and their Complex Interactions' (Cat. No.00CH37166), 2002
Virtual assembly computer tools assist human operators in their work of mechanical assembly inside virtual environments. This paper investigates the real-time rendering of computer-synthesized guidance. It uses a biologically inspired neural network to generate collision-free paths, and helps users to specify assembly tasks by guiding the motion of ...

Real-time rendering in curved spaces

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2002
A hypersphere surface provides a finite 3D world in which the user can fly freely without encountering boundaries, while hyperbolic space provides a spacious environment. The algorithm for rendering a scene in a hypersphere is identical to the standard algorithm for rendering a scene in ordinary flat 3D space.

A system for real-time watercolour rendering

International 2005 Computer Graphics, 2005
We present a system for the real-time rendering of scenes to produce images like watercolour paintings. Our system uses a hybrid of object space rendering techniques and image plane post processing to attain extremely good results very quickly. We achieve this through graphics processing unit (GPU) programming, hardware accelerated shadow volumes, and ...

Streamlines for Illustrative Real‐Time Rendering

Computer Graphics Forum, 2013
AbstractLine drawing techniques are important methods to illustrate shapes. Existing feature line methods, e.g., suggestive contours, apparent ridges, or photic extremum lines, solely determine salient regions and illustrate them with separate lines. Hatching methods convey the shape by drawing a wealth of lines on the whole surface.

Real-Time Painterly Rendering of Terrains

2008 Sixth Indian Conference on Computer Vision, Graphics & Image Processing, 2008
We present a non-photo realistic, real-time painterly rendering technique for terrains. The painterly appearance and the impression of terrains is created by effectively rendering several brush strokes. The strokes have fixed locations on the surfaces of the terrain during animation to enable frame to frame coherency.

Rendering hyper-sprites in real time

1998
This paper describes efficient algorithms for rendering sprites with the appearance of ray-traced objects. These sprites refract what is behind them and reflect the user as seen by a video camera. Applications include interactive multimedia as well as previewing glossy and metallic ink effects.

Embroidery modeling and rendering in real time

ACM SIGGRAPH 2011 Studio Talks, 2011
Many non-photorealistic rendering algorithms have been developed recently that simulate different traditional artistic styles including painting, mosaics, and stippling. However, there is at least one more traditional approach to rendering images non-photorealistically: embroidery.
