Novel Reassortant Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A(H5N2) Virus in Broiler Chickens, Egypt
We detected a novel reassortant highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N2) virus in 3 poultry farms in Egypt. The virus carried genome segments of a pigeon H9N2 influenza virus detected in 2014, a nucleoprotein segment of contemporary chicken H9N2 viruses

New Reassortant Clade 2.3.4.4b Avian Influenza A(H5N6) Virus in Wild Birds, South Korea, 2017–18
We isolated new reassortant avian influenza A(H5N6) viruses from feces of wild waterfowl in South Korea during 2017–18. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that reassortment occurred between clade 2.3.4.4b H5N8 and Eurasian low pathogenicity avian influenza ...

Characterization of a novel reassortant H5N6 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus clade 2.3.4.4 in Korea, 2017 [PDF]
Dear Editor, Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) viruses of the H5 subtype remain a serious concern for both poultry and human health. The clade 2.3.4.4 H5 viruses have evolved into four genetic groups (nominally designated A, B, C, and D).

Genetic Characterization and Pathogenicity of a Triple-Reassortant H1N1 Swine Influenza Virus Isolated in Guangdong. [PDF]
An H1N1 subtype swine influenza virus (SIV) was isolated from nasal swabs collected from pigs with suspected swine influenza (SI) on a farm in Guangdong, China. The virus, designated A/Swine/Guangdong/JJK/2025(H1N1) (abbreviated as JJK), underwent whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis, which confirmed that it is a triple‐reassortant strain.

We evaluated the consequences of reassortment between the H7N9 and the contemporary H9N2 viruses of the G1 lineage that are enzootic in poultry across the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East. Coinfection of chickens with these viruses resulted in the

Reassortment Network of Influenza A Virus [PDF]
AbstractInfluenza A virus (IAV) genomes are composed of eight single-stranded RNA segments. Genetic exchange through reassortment of the segmented genomes often endows IAVs with new genetic characteristics, which may affect transmissibility and pathogenicity of the viruses.

Molecular Epidemiology and Genetic Diversity of Influenza B Viruses Based on Whole-Genome Analysis in Japan and Myanmar, 2016-2020. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Influenza B virus (IBV) contributes to seasonal epidemics, but its molecular evolution is less defined than influenza A. We analyzed IBVs collected in Japan and Myanmar (2016–2020) to investigate lineage dynamics, reassortment, and genetic mismatch with vaccine strains. Methods Respiratory specimens from patients with influenza‐like
