Molecular Cloning of m3 Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor in Rat Iris.

open access: yesJournal of Smooth Muscle Research, 1998
Muscarinic receptor subtypes that involved in cholinergic responses in rat iris were identified by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis. mRNAs encoding m2, m3, and m4 subtypes were abundantly expressed in iris, whereas m1 and m5 subtypes were not detected.

Contrary effects of the gut metabolites deoxycholate and butyrate on the acetylcholine-evoked calcium response in an enteroendocrine cell model

open access: yesEndocrine and Metabolic Science
The interaction of nutrients and bacterial-derived products and their enteroendocrine effects are still enigmatic. We used the human enteroendocrine tumour cell line P-STS isolated from the terminal ileum as cellular sentinel.

Ipratropium Bromide-Mediated Myocardial Injury in In Vitro Models of Myocardial Ischaemia/Reperfusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ipratropium bromide, a nonselective muscarinic antagonist, is widely prescribed for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Analyses of COPD patients, with underlying ischaemic heart disease, receiving anticholinergics, have ...

Characterization of Muscarinic Receptor-Mediated Cationic Currents in Longitudinal Smooth Muscle Cells of Mouse Small Intestine

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2006
.: In mouse intestinal smooth muscle cells held at −50 mV, carbachol evoked an atropine-sensitive inward current in the intracellular presence of Cs+.

New and developing non-adrenoreceptor small molecule drugs for the treatment of asthma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) alone or in combination with an inhaled long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) are the preferred long-term treatment for adults and adolescents with symptomatic asthma.

Two Types of K⁺ Channel Subunit, Erg1 and KCNQ2/3, Contribute to the M-Like Current in a Mammalian Neuronal Cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The potassium M current was originally identified in sympathetic ganglion cells, and analogous currents have been reported in some central neurons and also in some neural cell lines.

Acetylcholine Release Inhibits Distinct Excitatory Inputs Onto Hippocampal CA1 Pyramidal Neurons via Different Cellular and Network Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2019
In hippocampal CA1, muscarinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptor (mAChR) activation via exogenous application of cholinergic agonists has been shown to presynaptically inhibit Schaffer collateral (SC) glutamatergic inputs in stratum radiatum (SR), and ...

The M3 muscarinic receptor is required for optimal adaptive immunity to helminth and bacterial infection.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Innate immunity is regulated by cholinergic signalling through nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. We show here that signalling through the M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M3R) plays an important role in adaptive immunity to both Nippostrongylus ...

Calcium Mobilization by Activation of M3/M5 Muscarinic Receptors in the Human Retinoblastoma

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2007
Activation of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChR) is one of the most important signal transduction pathways in the human body. In this study, we investigated the role of mAChR activation in relation to its subtypes in human retinoblastoma cell ...
