Coupled feedback loops maintain synaptic long-term potentiation: A computational model of PKMzeta synthesis and AMPA receptor trafficking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In long-term potentiation (LTP), one of the most studied types of neural plasticity, synaptic strength is persistently increased in response to stimulation. Although a number of different proteins have been implicated in the sub-cellular molecular processes underlying induction and maintenance of LTP, the precise mechanisms remain unknown. A particular

Interaction of GABA and Excitatory Amino Acids in the Basolateral Amygdala: Role in Cardiovascular Regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Activation of the amygdala in rats produces cardiovascular changes that include increases in heart rate and arterial pressure as well as behavioral changes characteristic of emotional arousal.

Recent Findings on AMPA Receptor Recycling [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2018
α-Amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptors (AMPA-Rs) are tetrameric protein complexes that mediate most of the fast-excitatory transmission in response to the neurotransmitter glutamate in neurons. The abundance of AMPA-Rs at the surface of excitatory synapses establishes the strength of the response to glutamate. It is thus evident

Psychedelic Drugs in Mental Disorders: Current Clinical Scope and Deep Learning‐Based Advanced Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphic illustration showing the strategic approaches based on the currently investigated evidence of psychedelics that suggests the challenges and how to address the prescription of mental disorders. These applicable avenues may provide substantial insight into distinguishing between brain networks and psychedelics.

Pharmacological analysis of ionotropic glutamate receptor function in neuronal circuits of the zebrafish olfactory bulb. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Although synaptic functions of ionotropic glutamate receptors in the olfactory bulb have been studied in vitro, their roles in pattern processing in the intact system remain controversial.

Algebraic study of receptor-ligand systems: a dose-response analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The study of a receptor-ligand system generally relies on the analysis of its dose-response (or concentration-effect) curve, which quantifies the relation between ligand concentration and the biological effect (or cellular response) induced when binding its specific cell surface receptor.

Molecular pharmacology of AMPA receptor trafficking proteins - TARPs - evidence for an association with 5HT(_2c) receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
There has been an increasing awareness of the involvement of neurotransmitters other than serotonin in depression, with new antidepressants possessing effects on other receptor types, such as Agomelatine®, an antagonist of 5HT(_2c) receptors that ...

Optical control of AMPA receptors using a photoswitchable quinoxaline-2,3-dione antagonist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
AMPA receptors respond to the neurotransmitter glutamate and play a critical role in excitatory neurotransmission. They have been implicated in several psychiatric disorders and have rich pharmacology.

Calcium-Permeable AMPA Receptors in the Nucleus Accumbens Regulate Depression-Like Behaviors in the Chronic Neuropathic Pain State

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2013
Depression is a salient emotional feature of chronic pain. Depression alters the pain threshold and impairs functional recovery. To date, however, there has been limited understanding of synaptic or circuit mechanisms that regulate depression in the pain

Behavioral Abnormalities, Cognitive Impairments, Synaptic Deficits, and Gene Replacement Therapy in a CRISPR Engineered Rat Model of 5p15.2 Deletion Associated With Cri du Chat Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new CdCS rat model is developed using CRISPR‐Cas9 technology. It shows impairments in cognitive and social behaviors, neuronal dendrite abnormalities in the hippocampus and mPFC, and inflammatory and immune processes in mPFC brain cells. Early AAV‐Ctnnd2 gene therapy enhances cognitive function in CdCS rats.
