.: We previously reported the occurrence and function of plasma membrane estrogen receptors in cultured bovine adrenal medullary cells. Here we report the effects of raloxifene and tamoxifen, selective estrogen receptor modulators, on plasma membrane ...

Cellular uptake of soy-derived phytoestrogens in vitro and in human whole blood [PDF]
Epidemiological studies comparing typical Western and traditional Eastern lifestyles indicate that dietary intake of soyderived phytoestrogens, including genistein, daidzein, and equol, may have significant health protective effects on hormone-dependent ...

Understanding the dynamics of Toll-like Receptor 5 response to flagellin and its regulation by estradiol [PDF]
© 2017 The Author(s). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are major players of the innate immune system. Once activated, they trigger a signalling cascade that leads to NF-ΰ B translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Single cell analysis shows that NF-ΰ

This study reveals that maternal antibiotic exposure prior to conception disrupts intergenerational gut microbial succession. By enhancing maternal‐offspring microbial transmission, altering microbial developmental trajectories and increasing selective pressures during community assembly, these disturbances lead to persistent gut mucosal immaturity and

GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.

Placental weight and mortality in premenopausal breast cancer by tumor characteristics [PDF]
Placental weight may be regarded as an indirect marker of hormone exposures during pregnancy. There is epidemiological evidence that breast cancer mortality in premenopausal women increases with placental weight in the most recent pregnancy.

Delivery of Pleckstrin‐Homology Domains Suppresses PI3K/Akt Signaling and Breast Cancer Metastasis
Current therapies curb tumor growth but not metastasis. Obscurin, a giant metastasis suppressor lost in breast cancer, restrains PI3K/Akt signaling but is impractical to restore. We deploy a mini‐obscurin, comprising the obscurin‐PH‐domain, which sequesters PI3K‐p85, potently suppressing invasion and metastasis.

Understanding the role of estrogen in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia
Introduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-malignant enlargement of the prostate that affects ageing men. As the number of men affected by this condition will only continue to grow with the aging population, finding new strategies and new ...
