Graded fibronectin receptor aggregation in migrating cells

Cell Motility and the Cytoskeleton, 1996
We have examined the distribution of the integrin fibronectin receptor in migrating NIH 3T3 fibroblasts to test the hypothesis that cell locomotion involves regional differences of adhesive receptor aggregation. A distinct asymmetry of fibronectin receptor aggregation was observed on the surface of migrating NIH 3T3 fibroblasts. Direct current electric

Fibronectin and Its Integrin Receptors in Cancer

1999
The adhesive extracellular matrix protein fibronectin and its integrin receptors play important roles at several stages of tumor development. Tumor cells are generally less adhesive than normal cells and deposit less extracellular matrix. The loosened matrix adhesion that results may contribute to the ability of tumor cells to leave their original ...

Fibronectin Receptor Expression on Thymocytes

1990
Entrance of precursor T cells into the thymus and their subsequent exit into the circulation are prerequisite events for development of mature T-lymphocyte characteristics (1). Thymic epithelial cells may play an integral role in thymocyte differentiation, both through direct contact and by secretion of thymic hormones (2).

Regulation of fibronectin receptor distribution.

The Journal of cell biology, 1992
To determine the role of each intracellular domain of the fibronectin receptor in receptor distribution, chimeric receptors were constructed containing the human interleukin-2 receptor (gp55 subunit) as the extracellular and transmembrane domains, in combination with either the alpha 5 or beta 1 intracellular domain of the fibronectin receptor as the ...

Gangliosides as receptors for fibronectin? Comparison of cell spreading on a ganglioside-specific ligand with that on fibronectin.

Experimental cell research, 1982
Gangliosides may act as the cell surface receptor for fibronectin, as previously suggested by the data of Kleinman et al. Gangliosides inhibited the spreading of both CHO and BHK cells on fibronectin-coated substrates. Inhibition (50%) of cell spreading was produced by 1.0 and 3.5 .times.

RECEPTOR IN THE EDb FIBRONECTIN DOMAIN

2003
The invention relates to a protein, which binds specifically to the EDb-fibronectin domain, a method for screening compounds which bind to a receptor in the EDb-fibronectin-domain or to the EDb-fibronectin-domain itself, in addition to the use of said protein.
