Characterization of a Bovine Serum Albumin‐Derived Pro‐Cognitive Peptide (bSAPP): An Orally Active Peptide Alleviates Cognitive Decline in HFD‐Fed Mice via CCK Signaling Through the Gut‐Brain Axis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 24, 31 December 2025.
The popularity of the Western diet has increased the prevalence of dementia in addition to aging. We found that the digest of bovine serum albumin and a peptide derived from the digest showed an oral pro‐cognitive effect in mice fed a high‐fat diet (HFD). We named the peptide bSAPP (EC50 = 0.01 mg/kg BW). The oral effect of bSAPP was modulated by CCK1R

The Ghrelin Receptor and its Appetite for Highly Potent Ghrelin Analogues

open access: yes, 2019
The growth hormone secretagogue receptor-1a (GHS-R1a) is expressed in many human tissues, most notably the hypothalamus, and causes an increase in appetite upon activation by its endogenous ligand, ghrelin. GHS-R1a is differentially expressed in malignant compared to benign tumours.
