Actions of D-Ala2-D-Leu5-enkephalin and dynorphin A (1–17) on neocortical neurons in vitro [PDF]
Intracellular recordings were made from neocortical neurons in vitro. Application of D-Ala2-D-Leu5-enkephalin (DADL) by different methods produced a decrease in EPSP amplitude and in the amplitude of L-glutamate-induced depolarizations without changes in

Glutamate receptor ion channels [PDF]
Glutamate receptor ion channels mediate excitatory responses at the majority of CNS synapses. They are the only ligand-gated ion channels for which multiple high-resolution crystal structures have been solved. Highlights of information gained from mechanistic studies based on the crystal structures of their ligand-binding domains include explanations ...

SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...

Advances in the pathogenesis of Rett syndrome using cell models
Most Rett syndrome (RTT) patients are affected by the MECP2 gene mutations. And the mutations of MECP2 have wide effects on different cell types of nervous system, including neurons, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and microglia, which always combined together to lead to abnormalities in the whole neural network.

Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).

Rapid and Scalable Halosulfonylation of Strain‐Release Reagents**
A one‐pot halosulfonylation of strained hydrocarbons is described that proceeds under practical, scalable and mild conditions. Sulfonyl halides featuring aryl, heteroaryl and alkyl substituents are generated in situ from sulfinate salts and convenient halogen atom sources. This chemistry enables the synthesis of an array of halogen/sulfonyl‐substituted

Alterations of Astrocytes in the Context of Schizophrenic Dementia
The levels of the astrocyte markers (GFAP, S100B) were increased unevenly in patients with schizophrenia. Reactive astrogliosis was found in approximately 70% of patients with schizophrenia.
