Localization of interleukin 6 mRNA and interleukin 6 receptor mRNA in rat brain
Neuroscience Letters, 1992The cytokine interleukin 6 (IL6) has several effects on the central nervous system in addition to the well established regulation of the acute phase inflammatory response. Therefore, the distribution of IL6- and IL6 receptor mRNA in the rat brain has been investigated by in situ hybridization using [35S]-labeled oligonucleotides.

Interleukin-6 and its receptor in autoimmunity
Journal of Autoimmunity, 1992Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine which acts on a wide variety of cells, regulating immune response, acute phase reaction and hematopoiesis. In accordance with its pleiotropic functions, IL-6 is indicated to be involved in the pathogenesis of several diseases including autoimmunities, lymphoid malignancies and inflammations.

Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg Cells Express Interleukin 6 and Interleukin 6 Receptors
Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1992Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic lymphokine which can stimulate a variety of cells including B and T lymphocytes. It has been suggested that IL-6 plays a crucial role in several diseases such as human plasmacytoma, cardiac myxoma or Castleman's Disease by autocrine or paracrine stimulation.

Interleukin 6 (IL-6), a well-known pro-inflammatory cytokine with pleiotropic activity is a central player in chronic inflammatory diseases including cancers. Therefore, blockade of the IL-6 signalling pathway has become a target for the therapy of diverse cancers such as multicentric Castleman’s disease (CD), multiple myeloma and solid tumours ...

Anti-Interleukin-6 and Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Lupus, 1994IL-6, soluble IL-6 receptor and IgG with anti-IL-6 activity were measured in the plasma of 14 lupus patients and 10 normal subjects. The capacity of peripheral blood mononuclear cells to spontaneously produce IL-6 in vitro was also measured. Our results indicate that IL-6 plasma levels in patient plasma as measured by ELISA were not different from ...

Serum Interleukin-6, Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor and Crohn’s Disease Activity
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2007The relationship between plasma interleukin-6 (IL-6) concentration and its soluble receptor in Crohn's disease (CD) is not well elucidated. Twenty healthy volunteers and 94 consecutive patients with CD (44 in relapse and 50 in remission) were studied. Plasma IL-6 concentrations in patients with active disease [80 +/- 9 pg/ml; mean +/- standard error of

Interleukin‐6 and Interleukin‐6 Receptor are Expressed by Cultured Glomerular Epithelial Cells
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1994Interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) has been extensively studied in mesangial cells but little is known about the expression of this cytokine and its receptor in glomerular epithelial cells (GEC). IL‐6 was detected in the culture supernatants of human GEC and its production was enhanced in time and dose dependent manner by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), interleukin‐1β (IL‐

Expression of interleukin-6 and interleukin-6 receptors in human granulosa lutein cells
Molecular Human Reproduction, 1998Cytokines are important regulators of reproductive functions. Significant amounts of interleukin-6 (IL-6) have been detected in the serum and ascites of patients with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). These findings suggest the involvement of IL-6 as a mediator in the pathogenesis of OHSS.

Interleukin-6 and Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor: Direct Stimulation of gp130 and Hematopoiesis
Blood, 1998T HE INTERLEUKIN-6 (IL-6) family of cytokines acts via receptor complexes that contain at least one subunit of the signal transducing protein gp130.[1][1] The family comprises IL-6, IL-11, ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), and oncostatin ...

Serum Interleukin-6 Soluble Receptor in Relation to Interleukin-6 in Stroke Patients
Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, 2004Cerebral ischemia triggers interleukin-6 (IL-6) release into blood. IL-6 is a key mediator of acute phase reaction. Markers of acute phase reaction (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, fever) have been linked to poor prognosis in stroke patients. Interleukin-6 soluble receptor (sIL-6R) can potentiate IL-6 pro-inflammatory activity.
