Laminin Variants and Integrin Laminin Receptors in Developing and Adult Human Smooth Muscle

Developmental Biology, 1993
Distribution of laminin variant chains and of laminin-binding beta 1-associated alpha integrin subunits was studied in human arterial and visceral smooth muscle during development using the immunofluorescence method. In aortic media of 10-week-old fetuses (early fetal stage of development), B1, B2, and A chains were found, and at 27 weeks of gestation (

Laminin receptors in differentiated thyroid tumors: restricted expression of the 67-kilodalton laminin receptor in follicular carcinoma cells.

The Journal of clinical endocrinology and metabolism, 1997
The expression of integrin laminin receptors was investigated in normal thyroid primary cultures; immortalized normal thyroid cells (TAD-2); papillary (NPA), follicular (WRO), and anaplastic (ARO) thyroid tumor cell lines; seven thyroid tumors (four papillary and three follicular carcinomas); and normal thyroid glands.

Presence of Laminin Receptors in Staphylococcus aureus

Science, 1985
A characteristic feature of infection by Staphylococcus aureus is bloodstream invasion and widespread metastatic abscess formation. The ability to extravasate, which entails crossing the vascular basement membrane, appears to be critical for the organism's pathogenicity.

The 67-kDa Laminin Receptor and Tumor Progression

1996
Penetration of host basement membranes by maligant cells is the critical event in tumor invasion and metastasis. Basement membranes are specialized extracellular matrices that underlie epithelia and endothelia and surround muscle, nerve, and fat. The major glycoprotein of the basement membrane is laminin, a large, multidomain protein (BECK et al.1990 ...

Increased expression of laminin receptors during myeloid differentiation

International Journal of Cancer, 1991
AbstractVariation of laminin receptor levels (LNR) during myeloid‐cell differentiation and in acute leukemia were investigated by 125I‐laminin‐binding determination during HL60 cell differentiation and in cells of patients with different types of leukemia, characterized according to the FAB classification.

p53-dependent downregulation of metastasis-associated laminin receptor

Oncogene, 2002
Based on observations suggesting a role for the tumor suppressor protein p53 in regulating expression of the 67-kDa laminin receptor precursor, 37LRP, we analysed the 37LRP promoter activity in a wild-type p53 (wt p53) ovarian carcinoma cell line and in a cisplatin-resistant subline with mutated p53. We observed an increased promoter activity in wt p53

Evidence against a laminin receptor role for calsequestrin

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991
Calsequestrin, a muscle calcium binding protein, has been shown to bind the extracellular matrix protein laminin and evidence has been presented that CAL (initially called aspartactin) is on the cell surface, consistent with a role as a laminin receptor (1).

Laminin receptors on SCLC cells.

The British journal of cancer. Supplement, 1991
Several studies have suggested a correlation between the metastatic potential and the expression of adhesion molecules and/or their receptors on tumour cell surface membranes. In this study we investigated the expression of functional laminin receptors on small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cells.

Two laminin receptors with N -acetylglucosamine-binding specificity

Biochimie, 2003
Two glycoproteins, the first, CBP70 which has lectin properties, and the second, cbg72 which is a laminin-1 receptor, have been previously described. We investigated whether cbg72 could have lectin properties and whether CBP70 could have a laminin-receptor function. We observed that CBP70, like cbg72, is a laminin-binding protein.
