Pro-inflammatory mechanisms of muscarinic receptor stimulation in airway smooth muscle

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2010
Background Acetylcholine, the primary parasympathetic neurotransmitter in the airways, plays an important role in bronchoconstriction and mucus production.

Increased accuracy of ligand sensing by receptor diffusion on cell surface [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E 82, 041902 (2010), 2010
The physical limit with which a cell senses external ligand concentration corresponds to the perfect absorber, where all ligand particles are absorbed and overcounting of same ligand particles does not occur. Here we analyze how the lateral diffusion of receptors on the cell membrane affects the accuracy of sensing ligand concentration.

Cholinergic partition cells and lamina X neurons induce a muscarinic-dependent short-term potentiation of commissural glutamatergic inputs in lumbar motoneurons.

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2011
Acetylcholine and the activation of muscarinic receptors influence the activity of neural networks generating locomotor behaviour in the mammalian spinal cord.

An update on the efficacy and safety of aclidinium bromide in patients with COPD

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Respiratory Disease, 2011
Aclidinium is a potent and selective muscarinic antagonist, which interacts rapidly with muscarinic receptors and shows subnanomolar affinity for the five human muscarinic receptors (M 1 –M 5 ); its association rate for the M 3 receptor is similar to ...

The impact of high density receptor clusters on VEGF signaling [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 125, 2013, pp. 37-52, 2013
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling is involved in the process of blood vessel development and maintenance. Signaling is initiated by binding of the bivalent VEGF ligand to the membrane-bound receptors (VEGFR), which in turn stimulates receptor dimerization.

Muscarinic receptor binding of fesoterodine, 5-hydroxymethyl tolterodine, and tolterodine in rat tissues after the oral, intravenous, or intravesical administration

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2019
The present study aimed to characterize muscarinic receptor binding of fesoterodine, 5-hydroxymethyl tolterodine (5-HMT), and tolterodine in bladder and other tissues of rats after their oral, intravenous, or intravesical administration.

Characterization of muscarinic receptor binding by the novel radioligand, [3H]imidafenacin, in the bladder and other tissues of rats

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2016
The present study aimed to directly characterize specific binding sites of tritium ([3H])-labeled imidafenacin, a new radioligand for labeling muscarinic receptors, in the bladder and other peripheral or central nervous tissues of rats.

A Thermodynamic Model for Receptor Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Intracellular signaling often arises from ligand-induced oligomerization of cell surface receptors. This oligomerization or clustering process is fundamentally a cooperative behavior between near-neighbor receptor molecules; the properties of this cooperative process clearly affects the signal transduction.
