In-silico design of peptide receptor for carboxyhemoglobin recognition

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2019
A series of peptide receptors were designed using an in-silico approach for the recognition of the heme prosthetic group in carboxyhemoglobin (COHb). These peptide chains were designed from the amino acids present in the enzyme Cytochrome b561 (Cyt b561)

Transcriptome of the female synganglion of the black-legged tick Ixodes scapularis (Acari: Ixodidae) with comparison between Illumina and 454 systems. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Illumina and 454 pyrosequencing were used to characterize genes from the synganglion of female Ixodes scapularis. GO term searching success for biological processes was similar for samples sequenced by both methods.

Co-expressed peptide receptors in breast cancer as a molecular basis for in vivo multireceptor tumour targeting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Breast cancers can express different types of peptide receptors such as somatostatin, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and NPY(Y1) receptors. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate which is the most appropriate

Robust anti‐obesity and metabolic effects of a dual GLP‐1/glucagon receptor peptide agonist in rodents and non‐human primates

open access: yesDiabetes, obesity and metabolism, 2016
To characterize the pharmacology of MEDI0382, a peptide dual agonist of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) and glucagon receptors.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Mechanistic insight into a peptide hormone signaling complex mediating floral organ abscission

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Plants constantly renew during their life cycle and thus require to shed senescent and damaged organs. Floral abscission is controlled by the leucine-rich repeat receptor kinase (LRR-RK) HAESA and the peptide hormone IDA.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Global analysis of neuropeptide receptor conservation across phylum Nematoda

open access: yesBMC Biology
Background The phylum Nematoda is incredibly diverse and includes many parasites of humans, livestock, and plants. Peptide-activated G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are central to the regulation of physiology and numerous behaviors, and they ...

Structure–Function Relationships of Glycine and GABAA Receptors and Their Interplay With the Scaffolding Protein Gephyrin

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2018
Glycine and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are the major determinants of inhibition in the central nervous system (CNS). These neurotransmitters target glycine and GABAA receptors, respectively, which both belong to the Cys-loop superfamily of pentameric ...

Gene transfer into hepatocytes using asialoglycoprotein receptor mediated endocytosis of DNA complexed with an artificial tetra-antennary galactose ligand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We have constructed an artificial ligand for the hepatocyte-specific asialoglycoprotein receptor for the purpose of generating a synthetic delivery system for DNA.
