Decoupling peptide binding from T cell receptor recognition with engineered chimeric MHC-I molecules

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Major Histocompatibility Complex class I (MHC-I) molecules display self, viral or aberrant epitopic peptides to T cell receptors (TCRs), which employ interactions between complementarity-determining regions with both peptide and MHC-I heavy chain ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Structural insights into prolactin-releasing peptide receptor signaling and G-protein coupling selectivity

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Prolactin-releasing peptide receptor (PrRPR), a notable member of the class A peptide-GPCR (G-protein-coupled receptor) family, regulates diverse physiology functions upon activation by PrRP.

Altered density of glomerular binding sites for atrial natriuretic factor in bile duct-ligated rats with ascites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The renal response to atrial natriuretic factor is blunted in cirrhosis with ascites. This might be due to alterations of renal receptors for atrial natriuretic factor.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Amylin Receptor 1 Mutagenesis Revealed a Potential Role of Calcitonin Serine 29 in Receptor Interaction

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background: The amylin receptor is a receptor for the peptide hormone amylin, and its activation is known to reduce body weight. The amylin receptor functions as a heterodimer complex that consists of the calcitonin receptor for peptide hormone ...

Identification and Quantification of a New Family of Peptide Endocannabinoids (Pepcans) Showing Negative Allosteric Modulation at CB1 Receptors*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2012
Background: The α-hemoglobin-derived peptide RVDPVNFKLLSH was found to interact with cannabinoid CB1 receptors. Results: We generated mAbs against RVDPVNFKLLSH and identified a new family of endogenous peptides (Pepcans) that act as negative allosteric ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Plant Leucine-Rich Repeat Receptor Kinase (LRR-RK): Structure, Ligand Perception, and Activation Mechanism

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
In recent years, secreted peptides have been recognized as essential mediators of intercellular communication which governs plant growth, development, environmental interactions, and other mediated biological responses, such as stem cell homeostasis ...
