Thyrotropin releasing hormone: Apparent receptor binding in retina
Experimental Eye Research, 1979Abstract Thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) binds with high affinity to sites on sheep retinal membranes. These sites closely resemble sheep pituitary receptors for TRH, as determined by direct comparison of binding in the two tissues. Specific [ 3 H]TRH binding in sheep pituitary and retina was measured relative to blanks containing 1 μ m [3-Me ...

Thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptors in gut tissues resemble pituitary receptors
Neuroscience Letters, 1986The relative order of activity of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) and various analogs in contracting the isolated guinea pig antrum and duodenum correlated with their potencies in activating thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) release. The action of TRH in both tissues was selectively antagonized by the putative pituitary TRH receptor antagonist ...

Receptors for thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) in rabbit spinal cord
Brain Research, 1983Specific binding of 3H-labeled [3-Me-His2]TRH ([3H]MeTRH) to membranes of rabbit spinal cord (thoracic) involved a homogeneous population of high-affinity sites (Kd = 2.7 +/- 0.17 (n = 5) nM, Bmax = 204 +/- 12(5) fmol/mg protein). TRH analogs competed for the binding in the following rank order of potency: MeTRH greater than TRH greater than TRH-Gly ...

Modulation of dopamine receptors by thyrotropin-releasing hormone in the rat brain
Peptides, 1987Nanomolar concentration of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) in vitro caused a significant reduction of [3H]apomorphine binding sites (70% of the control) in the rat striatum and the limbic forebrain. [3H]Spiperone binding was not affected by TRH. On the other hand, dopamine and apomorphine displaced [3H]TRH binding partially, suggesting the presence

Characteristics of thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) receptors in rat brain
Peptides, 1982Characteristics of TRH-receptors were studied in the rat central nervous system (CNS). Ion species, pH and temperature importantly influenced TRH-receptor binding. Subcellular distribution of TRH-receptor binding revealed that synaptic membranes had the greatest percentage of total sites.

Molecular Cloning of a Functional Human Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptor
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993A cDNA encoding the human thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptor (hTRH-R) was isolated from a human brain cDNA library. Screening of 1.2 million clones resulted in 2 candidates. The largest clone contained TRH-R homologous sequences starting in the third transmembrane domain and included a long 3' untranslated sequence.

Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone-Receptor Interaction in GH3 Pituitary Cells*
Endocrinology, 1980The interaction between TRH and GH3 pituitary tumor cells was studied in monolayer cultures or membrane-containing fractions. In intact cells, the apparent dissociation constant (Kd) was approximately 10 nM, and the total number of binding sites was approximately 1.4 pmol/mg protein at temperatures of 0-37 C.

Brain and Pituitary Receptors for Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone in Hypothyroid Rats
Pharmacology, 2008The effect of hypothyroidism on the thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) receptors in several brain regions and pituitary of rats was determined. TRH receptors were labeled with 3H-(3-MeHis2)TRH (3H-MeTRH). Hypothyroidism was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats by administering methimazole (0.05% w/v) in drinking water for 32 days.

Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone: Analogs and Receptors
1993Publisher Summary Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) is a tripeptide ( p -Glu-His-Pro-NH 2 ) found in high concentrations in the mammalian central nervous system (CNS) and pituitary that has both neurotransmitter and neuroendocrine roles. In the CNS, TRH stimulates neuronal excitability; enhances amine and cholinergic transmitter turnover; and ...

Cloning and Characterization of a New Subtype of Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptors
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1998A new subfamily member of thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) receptor gene, TRHR2, was isolated from rat brain cDNAs. The deduced amino acid sequence of TRHR2 is 51 % identical to that of rat TRH receptor gene which was reported previously. Northern blot analysis with TRHR2 probe revealed brain-specific expression of a 9.5 kb mRNA.
