Scattered Nuclear Continuum and Broad H-alpha in Cygnus A

open access: yes, 1997
We have discovered scattered broad Balmer emission lines in the spectrum of Cygnus A, using the Keck II telescope. Broad H-alpha appears in polarized flux from components on either side of the nucleus, and to a lesser extent in the nucleus.

The nucleus of the Sagittarius dSph galaxy and M54: a window on the process of galaxy nucleation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present the results of a thorough study of the nucleus of the Sgr dwarf spheroidal galaxy and of the bright globular cluster M54 that resides within the same nucleus (Sgr,N).

Progressive supranuclear palsy: new concepts

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2010
Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a distinctive form of neurodegenerative disease which affects the brainstem and basal ganglia. Patients present supranuclear ophthalmoplegia, postural instability and mild dementia.

Collateralization of cerebellar output to functionally distinct brainstem areas. A retrograde, non-fluorescent tracing study in the rat

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2014
The organization of the cerebellum is characterized by a number of longitudinally organized connection patterns that consist of matching olivo-cortico-nuclear zones.

Cross sections of $\alpha$-induced reactions for targets with masses $A \approx 20-50$ at low energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A simple reduction scheme using so-called reduced energies $E_{\rm{red}}$ and reduced cross sections $\sigma_{\rm{red}}$ allows the comparison of heavy-ion induced reaction cross sections for a broad range of masses of projectile and target and over a ...

Optical polarimetry and photometry of comet 17P/Holmes

open access: yes, 2009
Comet 17P/Holmes was observed for linear polarisation using the optical polarimeter mounted on the 1.2m telescope atop Gurushikhar peak near Mt. Abu during the period November-December 2007.

The Apparent Host Galaxy of PKS 1413+135: HST, ASCA and VLBA Observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
PKS 1413+135 (z=0.24671) is one of very few radio-loud AGN with an apparent spiral host galaxy. Previous authors have attributed its nearly exponential infrared cutoff to heavy absorption but have been unable to place tight limits on the absorber or its ...

Brainstem Alzheimer's-like pathology in the triple transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2009
The triple transgenic mouse (3xTgAD), harboring human APPSwe, PS1M146V and TauP301L genes, develops age-dependent forebrain intraneuronal Aβ and tau as well as extraneuronal plaques.

Radial Age and Metal Abundance Gradients in the Stellar Content of M32 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present long-slit spectroscopy of the elliptical galaxy M32, obtained with the 8-m Subaru telescope at Mauna Kea, the 1.5-m Tillinghast telescope at the F. L. Whipple Observatory, and the 4-m Mayall telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory. The

Hubble Space Telescope Pixel Analysis of the Interacting Face-on Spiral Galaxy NGC 5194 (M51A)

open access: yes, 2011
A pixel analysis is carried out on the interacting face-on spiral galaxy NGC 5194 (M51A), using the HST/ACS images in the F435W, F555W and F814W (BVI) bands.
