Dynamic control of flexible, kinematically redundant robot manipulators
IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1992It is shown how choosing the self-motion inherent in redundant arms is crucially important when flexibility is present. The self-motion, by exciting or damping the flexural modes, alters the dynamic response of the arms. Kinematic redundancy can also be used in many cases to help damp out vibrations.

Redundant Robotic Manipulators I: Regularizing by Mechanical Impedance
1990Redundancy is one of the main sources of skilled manipulation. We may distinguish between two types of redundancy: structural and task—dependent. The former type is a consequence of fixed constraints such as the presence of multiple actuators acting on a single joint. In contrast, kinematic redundancy may arise from specific task dependent requirements,

Exploiting redundancy for jerk minimization in robotic manipulators
This paper presents two approaches for minimizing jerk in redundant manipulators, leveraging the redundancy with respect to the desired task. As optimization variables, we consider the position of a selected redundant joint of the robot and the angles that define the end-effector orientation for each considered way point. These strategies are tested onFabris, Giuliano +3 more
