Lymphocytes from rheumatoid arthritis patients have elevated levels of intracellular peroxiredoxin 2, and a greater frequency of cells with exofacial peroxiredoxin 2, compared with healthy human lymphocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Peroxiredoxin 2 has immune regulatory functions, but its expression in human peripheral blood lymphocytes and levels in extracellular fluid in healthy subjects and rheumatoid arthritis patients are poorly described.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Rola limfocytów T regulatorowych w patogenezie wybranych chorób pęcherzowych

open access: yesPrzegląd Dermatologiczny, 2011
Regulatory T cells (Treg) are a phenotypically heterogeneous group ofcells, playing an important role in regulation of the immune response. To date, several subtypes of regulatory cells have been identified.

Characterization of the Immune Response Induced by a Commercially Available Inactivated Bluetongue Virus Serotype 1 Vaccine in Sheep [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The protective immune response generated by a commercial monovalent inactivated vaccine against bluetongue virus serotype 1 (BTV1) was studied. Five sheep were vaccinated, boost-vaccinated, and then challenged against BTV1 ALG/2006. RT-PCR did not detect

Dynamical System Modeling Of Immune Reconstitution Following Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation Identifies Patients At Risk For Adverse Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Systems that evolve over time and follow mathematical laws as they do so, are called dynamical systems. Lymphocyte recovery and clinical outcomes in 41 allograft recipients conditioned using anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) and 4.5 Gray total-body-irradiation were studied to determine if immune reconstitution could be described as a dynamical system ...

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Permanent up-regulation of regulatory T-lymphocytes in patients with head and neck cancer.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2010
Various immune functions of different types of immune cells are strongly impaired in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Regulatory T-lymphocyte cells (Tregs) have been suggested to be involved in the immunomodulation of immune ...

Regulatory Effect of Lysophosphatidic Acid on Lymphocyte Migration

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2010
Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a lipid mediator that is known to exhibit chemotactic activity toward a variety of cancer cells. However, its effect on the immune system has not been studied extensively. Another lipid mediator, sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), has been shown to influence lymphocyte recirculation by regulating lymphocyte egress from ...

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.
