Thermostable neutral metalloprotease from Geobacillus sp. EA1 does not share thermolysin's preference for substrates with leucine at the P1′ position

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Knowing how proteases recognise preferred substrates facilitates matching proteases to applications. The S1′ pocket of protease EA1 directs cleavage to the N‐terminal side of hydrophobic residues, particularly leucine. The S1′ pocket of thermolysin differs from EA's at only one position (leucine in place of phenylalanine), which decreases cleavage ...

Rejuvenation of ‘Make in India’

open access: yesWorld Journal of Advanced Research and Reviews, 2023
Initially, Covid-19 outbreak drew the progressive economy towards regression, but later with India being seen as a prime investment destination over China exacerbating the current scenario, there is a comeback of the failed campaign ‘Make In India’ to light, with global pharmaceuticals companies eyeing on India.

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

In Vivo Skin Regeneration and Wound Healing Using Cell Micro-Transplantation

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Background: The accumulation of senescent cells in tissues alters tissue homeostasis and affects wound healing. It is also considered to be the main contributing factor to aging.

Atomistic modeling of heat treatment processes for tuning the mechanical properties of disordered solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We investigate the effect of a single heat treatment cycle on the potential energy states and mechanical properties of metallic glasses using molecular dynamics simulations.

The multidrug and toxin extrusion (MATE) transporter DTX51 antagonizes non‐cell‐autonomous HLS1–AMP1 signaling in a region‐specific manner

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

Rejuvenation of Helicobacter pylori–Associated Atrophic Gastritis Through Concerted Actions of Placenta-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Prevented Gastric Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
Chronic Helicobacter pylori infection causes gastric cancer via the progression of precancerous chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG). Therefore, repairing gastric atrophy could be a useful strategy in preventing H.

Numerical Study on Aging Dynamics in the 3D Ising Spin-Glass Model. III. Cumulative Memory and `Chaos' Effects in the Temperature-Shift Protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The temperature ($T$)-shift protcol of aging in the 3 dimensional (3D) Edwards- Anderson (EA) spin-glass (SG) model is studied through the out-of-phase component of the ac susceptibility simulated by the Monte Carlo method.

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Rheological aging and rejuvenation in solid friction contacts

open access: yes, 2002
We study the low-velocity (0.1--100 $\mu$m.s$^{-1}$) frictional properties of interfaces between a rough glassy polymers and smooth silanized glass, a configuration which gives direct access to the rheology of the adhesive joints in which shear localizes.
