Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Relative Fat Mass Associated with Hyperuricemia in Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study

open access: yesEndocrine, Metabolic & Immune Disorders - Drug Targets
Aims: There is a close relationship between obesity and hyperuricemia. Relative Fat Mass (RFM) is considered a new indicator for evaluating obesity. We aim to explore the relationship between RFM and the risk of hyperuricemia in adults. Methods:

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Association between relative fat mass and periodontitis: results from NHANES 2009–2014

open access: yesScientific Reports
Relative fat mass (RFM) is a novel indicator for measuring body fat. This cross-section study aims to explore the association between RFM and periodontitis and to investigate possible effect modifiers in U.S.

Association between lean mass and the risk of metabolic syndrome in Korean children and adolescents: data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination survey

open access: yesEndocrine Journal
Skeletal muscle is considered an endocrine and paracrine organ that has metabolic effects, and several studies have shown a positive association between muscle mass and insulin sensitivity.

Usefulness of relative fat mass in estimating body adiposity in Korean adult population

open access: yesEndocrine Journal, 2019
Various indicators have been suggested as replacements of body mass index (BMI) for estimating body fat percentage, including the recently introduced relative fat mass (RFM). However, RFM has not been assessed in different ethnicities; therefore, we evaluated whether RFM can be used to estimate body fat percentage in Korean adults and whether RFM is a ...
