An Extreme Rotating Black Hole in New Massive Gravity Theory

open access: yesRevista Politécnica, 2017
New Massive Gravity is an alternative theory to General Relativity that is used to describe the gravitational field in a (2+1)-dimensional spacetime. Black hole solutions have been found in this theory, in particular an asymptotically anti-de Sitter ...

Relative index theory

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1992
The author studies pairs of generalized Dirac operators on complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds which agree outside compact sets. By an analytic interpretation of the difference of the integrals over their local index densities, he obtains a generalization of the relative index theorem of \textit{M. Gromov} and \textit{H. B. Lawson} jun.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Can Lorentz transformations be determined by the null Michelson-Morley result?

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ensino de Física
The so-called principle of relativity is able to fix a general coordinate transformation which differs from the standard Lorentzian form only by an unknown speed which cannot in principle be identified with the light speed.

L’essenza fenomenologica della relatività. Questioni di confine tra Husserl e Einstein [PDF]

open access: yesS&F_scienzaefilosofia.it, 2016
The phenomenological Essence of Relativity. Matters concerning the Border between Husserl and Einstein According to Hermann Weyl, Einstein’s Relativity Theory is a method that combines “analysis of essence” and “mathematical construction”.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Spacetime Emergence: An (In)effective Story

open access: yesPhilosophy of Physics
Physicists and philosophers are increasingly prone to regarding our current physical theories as providing ‘effective descriptions’ of real-world systems.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Gravitational radiation of a spherically symmetric source in f(R)-gravitation

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
It is shown that Birkhoff’s theorem for the general theory of relativity is overcome in the f(R)-theory of gravitation. That means, the f(R)-theory of gravitation, unlike Einstein’s general theory of relativity, does not forbid gravitational radiation ...
