Progression of Motor and Cognitive Functions in Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder: A 7‐Year Prospective Matched Cohort Study

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Although clinical markers (eg, motor and cognitive impairment) in isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) are associated with faster phenoconversion, their longitudinal trajectory patterns (linear or nonlinear) remain unclear.

Imaging patterns and genetic associations of brain atrophy across distinct symptom stages in Parkinson's disease

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Early disease stages showed limited cortical atrophy and enrichment of synaptic and calcium signaling pathways, whereas advanced stages demonstrated widespread cortical degeneration associated with immune activation and extracellular matrix remodeling.

Age‐related population level decoupling of obstructive sleep apnea severity from body mass index: Insights from over 40,000 patients across the adult lifespan

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Study Objectives Obesity is a major determinant of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity, but its influence may vary across adulthood. We examined age‐related patterns of body mass index (BMI), apnea–hypopnea index (AHI), and hypoxemic burden, and assessed whether the association between BMI and OSA severity attenuates with age.

Amelioration of obstructive sleep apnea in REM sleep behavior disorder: Implications for the neuromuscular control of OSA

open access: yes, 2011
Objectives: The relationship between REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) remains unclear. We aimed to (1) explore the association of REM-related EMG activity (REMREEA) with OSA in RBD patients; (2) compare the severity of ...
