Experiences with remote labs in electrical drive
2014 55th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON), 2014A remote environment proposed in the paper enables the study electrical drives via the Web. The active learning concept of the distance education and the set of Internet-based laboratory works open the possibility to learn Basic and Advanced Courses of Electrical Drive providing a lot of benefits for both the learners and the faculty.

Remote diagnosis and control of wheelchair electrical drive systems
2004 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2004. IEEE ICIT '04., 2005A new diagnostic and protective system (DPS) suitable for wheelchair electrical drive applications has been prepared. Such a system is able to perform both monitoring and long-distance transmission of key signals that are used as pre-fault and fault indicators.

Inconspicuous communication method utilizing remote electromagnetic drive
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995An inconspicuous hearing system is described that uses a coil (20) to electromagnetically couple with, and therefore drive, a permanent magnet (10) attached to the tympanic membrane (12) or ossicular chain. This hearing system enables hearing impaired individuals, as well as persons with normal hearing, to selectively receive sound signals in a wide ...

Cell phone conversations distract drivers. This research explores the possibility of reducing distracting by providing callers with remote information about the driver’s traffic. We asked whether providing such contextual information would change the caller’s conversation such that drivers would be less distracted.

Variable speed drives for remote downhole pump applications
Power Engineering Journal, 2000Electrical submersible pumps are now widely used in subsea wells to provide artificial lift. This article describes some of the practical problems associated with motor performance when driven from variable-speed PWM drives connected to subsea motors via step-up transformers and potentially long HV cables.
