Macrophage TRIM21 Inhibition Ameliorates Murine Acute Pancreatitis via PHB2‐Mediated Mitochondrial Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
Macrophage‐derived TRIM21 drives the progression of AP via ubiquitin‐proteasome‐mediated degradation of PHB2, leading to impaired PHB2‐mediated mitophagy. Therefore, accumulation of cytosolic mtDNA hyperactivates the cGAS‐STING signaling axis, thereby amplifying inflammatory cascades.

Determining the Environmental Drivers of Greenshell Mussel (Perna canaliculus) Spat Settlement

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, mussel aquaculture production is often constrained by a limited supply of spat, the juvenile stage of mussels, used to initiate production. In some instances, the harvesting of wild spat on spat‐collection ropes has the potential to quickly solve this acute shortage. However, the settlement of mussel spat on collectors is known to be

Microhabitat Patchiness Structures Benthic Biodiversity in the Western Antarctic Peninsula

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Shallow benthic communities of the West Antarctic Peninsula cannot be considered uniform habitats but rather mosaics of microhabitats, each characterised by distinct macroalgal communities and associated fauna. Regional biodiversity and patterns are shaped by the number and types of microhabitats.

Using biotelemetry to assess drone effects on whale sharks

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The use of unoccupied aerial vehicles or drones for wildlife research has proliferated in recent years and they have proven to be a valuable tool for collecting data for population surveys, morphometric and body condition measurements, and for observing behavior.

Mapping engineering students' conceptions of responsibility in challenge‐based learning: The agency gap

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Education, Volume 115, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Background The complexity of engineering practice highlights the need to make students aware of their responsibility as future professionals. However, integrating this concept into the engineering curricula remains a challenge. Purpose The study explores how engineering students conceptualize their responsibilities as future professionals and ...

Heat stress relief by tidally driven cold‐water bores on a coral reef atoll

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Understanding how physical transport mechanisms influence coral reef temperature dynamics is crucial for effective management. Typically, sea surface temperature (SST) is used to estimate coral heat stress, yet subsurface physical processes can significantly influence reef temperature dynamics and are imperative to consider in predictive ...
