Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

Tenofovir and Severe Symptomatic Hypophosphatemia

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Medicine High Impact Case Reports, 2019
Tenofovir is a broadly used drug used for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Although the initial results of the clinical trials supported the renal safety of Tenofovir, clinical use of it has caused a low, albeit a significant, risk of

Profile of once-daily zonisamide as monotherapy for treatment of partial seizures in adults. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic disorders, affecting about 50 million people around the world. It is recognized that around 50% of patients with newly diagnosed epilepsy become seizure-free with the first drug treatment, so the choice of ...

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.
