PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Tubular HIPK2 is a key contributor to renal fibrosis

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2020
We previously used global Hipk2-null mice in various models of kidney disease to demonstrate the central role of homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 2 (HIPK2) in renal fibrosis development.

Effects of Rikkunshito treatment on renal fibrosis/inflammation and body weight reduction in a unilateral ureteral obstruction model in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) progresses to end-stage renal failure via renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Malnutrition, inflammation, and arteriosclerosis interact to exacerbate the poor prognosis of CKD, and their effective management is thus essential.

Nicotinamide and Pyridoxine Supplementation Enhances Muscle Stem Cell Activity and Muscle Regeneration in Humans: A Randomized Placebo‐Controlled Clinical Trial of High Force Eccentric Contraction Recovery in Healthy Young Men

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a randomized clinical trial, we test the potential of combined nicotinamide (NAM) and pyridoxine (PN) to improve muscle recovery through muscle stem cell (MuSC) activity. Daily oral NAM and PN supplementation after high intensity muscle contractions enhances MuSC activation and differentiation, and accelerates muscle regeneration, providing new ...

Questions about Chemokine and Chemokine Receptor Antagonism in Renal Inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Chemokines remain attractive therapeutic targets for modulating inflammatory diseases in all areas of medicine including acute and chronic kidney disease.

Renal epithelial injury and fibrosis

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2013
Chronic kidney disease at a certain advanced stage inevitably progresses to end stage renal failure characterized by the progressing loss of nephrons accompanied by the increasing appearance of fibrotic tissue, called renal fibrosis. The urgent question is whether renal fibrosis is a response to injury or if fibrosis acquires a self-sustaining ...

Macrophage Extracellular Traps in Immunity and Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a macrophage‐mediated innate defense mechanism, the dysregulated release of METs drives chronic inflammation and influences tumor progression. Furthermore, METs exhibit a functional duality within the tumor microenvironment, capable of both promoting and suppressing tumor development.

Targeting interferon-stimulated gene of 20 kDa protein (Isg20) inhibits ribosome biogenesis to ameliorate the progression of renal fibrosis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health issue that significantly threatens human health, with its incidence increasing annually. Renal fibrosis is characterized by the progressive loss of kidney function, leading to significant morbidity and ...
