Educational level, clinical outcomes and quality of care in a Swiss cohort of patients with acute coronary syndromes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, EarlyView.
Despite universal healthcare in Switzerland, disparities in post‐acute coronary syndrome (ACS) care persist across educational levels. In a cohort of 6040 patients, those with the lowest education had more cardiovascular risk factors and were less likely to attend cardiac rehabilitation or receive cardiology follow‐up.

Molecular basis of domain‐specific angiotensin I‐converting enzyme inhibition by the antihypertensive drugs enalaprilat, ramiprilat, trandolaprilat, quinaprilat and perindoprilat

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Inhibition of angiotensin I‐converting enzyme is an effective strategy for the treatment of hypertension. However, the clinically available ACE inhibitors cause side effects due to nonselective inhibition of the two catalytic domains of ACE (nACE and cACE).

Impact of non‐cardiovascular factors on cardiovascular death in acute decompensated heart failure: Enhancing predictive models with frailty and comorbid constipation—the Constipation and Frailty Augmented AHEAD score

open access: yesGeriatrics &Gerontology International, EarlyView.
We developed the CFA‐AHEAD score by incorporating constipation and frailty into the conventional AHEAD model. This new score significantly improves the prediction of mortality in patients with acute decompensated heart failure. Simple and practical, the CFA‐AHEAD score enhances clinical risk stratification and might support personalized patient ...
