New Approaches to Blockade of the Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosterone System: Mineralocorticoid-Receptor Blockers Exert Antihypertensive and Renoprotective Effects Independently of the Renin–Angiotensin System

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2010
The role of angiotensin II in mediating hypertension and renal diseases is well documented, and inhibition of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system elicits antihypertensive and renoprotective effects.

The role of the angiotensins in the pathogenesis of inflammatory joint disease

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2021
The significant humoral effect of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system on the regulation of the cardiovascular system and blood pressure has long been widely known. However, the identification and interpretation of new components of renin-angiotensin-

Impaired angiotensin II signaling in septic shock

open access: yesAnnals of Intensive Care
Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest for the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system in critically ill patients. Emerging data suggest that this vital homeostatic system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining systemic and renal hemodynamics ...

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Advances in Unraveling the Role of the Renin-Angiotensin-AldosteroneSystem in Osteoporosis Pathogenesis

open access: yesGuoji laonian yixue zazhi
The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(RAAS) serves as a pivotal regulatory mechanism influencing aldosterone secretion through renin.Functioning as a hormonal cascade,RAAS plays a crucial role in maintaining dynamic homeostasis concerning arterial ...

New Approaches to Blockade of the Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosterone System: Overview of Regulation of the Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosterone System

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2010
The critical role played by the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS) in the regulation of blood pressure and body fluid homeostasis has been well recognized.

Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, Glucose Metabolism and Incident Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: MESA. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Mechanistic studies suggest that aldosterone impairs glucose metabolism. We investigated the cross-sectional associations of aldosterone and plasma renin activity with fasting plasma glucose, insulin resistance ( IR ), β-cell function, and ...

Intravenous lanadelumab for the treatment of moderately ill COVID‐19 patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Kallikrein‐kinin system (KKS) dysregulation is hypothesized to play a pathogenetic role in COVID‐19‐associated pulmonary oedema. To investigate the efficacy and safety of intravenous lanadelumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits plasma kallikrein, in COVID‐19, we conducted a phase 2, open‐label, randomized‐controlled, proof‐of‐concept ...
