The Multiple Sclerosis Severity Allele rs10191329A and Cognitive Function: A UK Biobank Study
ABSTRACT The genome‐wide association study of Multiple Sclerosis severity linked the genetic variant rs10191329A to long‐term disability and implicated brain resilience as a determinant of outcome. We hypothesised that rs10191329A might influence cognition in other neurological diseases and healthy controls.

Characterizing Cutaneous α‐Synuclein Deposition and Seeding Activity in Parkinson's Disease Subtypes
ABSTRACT Objective Cutaneous phosphorylated α‐synuclein (p‐syn) and α‐synuclein seeding activity are promising biomarkers for Parkinson's disease (PD), but their clinical value remains uncertain due to disease heterogeneity. This study evaluates these two biomarkers in PD patients to inform phenotype‐specific diagnosis and disease severity assessment ...

Objective Frailty occurs prematurely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with poor health outcomes. We compared the performance of four frailty instruments, including a pragmatic alternative measure using chair sit‐to‐stand (STS), and evaluated their abilities to predict poor health outcomes.

Chk1 inhibits replication factory activation but allows dormant origin firing in existing factories [PDF]
Replication origins are licensed by loading MCM2-7 hexamers before entry into S phase. However, only similar to 10% of licensed origins are normally used in S phase, with the others remaining dormant.

Replication origins in eukaroytes
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 1996Recent experiments in budding yeast and Xenopus have provided new insights into the regulation of eukaroytic DNA replication. The multi-subunit origin recognition complex plays a key role in initiation, remaining bound at origins of replication during most of the cell cycle.

The origins of replication of granuloviruses
Archives of Virology, 2008The genomes of eight granuloviruses (GVs), have been analyzed for the presence of homologous regions (hrs) that may act as origins of replication. Thirteen 74-76-bp palindromes within 11 hrs have previously been identified in the Cydia pomonella GV (CpGV) genome and found to replicate in an infection-dependent DNA replication assay. We report a further

Origins of DNA replication in eukaryotes
Molecular Cell, 2023Errors occurring during DNA replication can result in inaccurate replication, incomplete replication, or re-replication, resulting in genome instability that can lead to diseases such as cancer or disorders such as autism. A great deal of progress has been made toward understanding the entire process of DNA replication in eukaryotes, including the ...

Mammalian origins of replication
BioEssays, 1992AbstractIt has been almost twenty‐five years since Huberman and Riggs first showed that there are multiple bidirectional origins of replication scattered at ∼100 kb intervals along mammalian chromosomal fibers. Since that time, every conceivable physical property unique to replicating DNA has been taken advantage of to determine whether origins of ...

Cybernetic origins of replication
Origins of life and evolution of the biosphere, 1988An evolutionary progression leading toward replication is resolved into several phases; (a) the replication of RNA segments by self-priming and -templating, (b) the replication of single stranded molecules by elongation and controlled scission, (c) replication of complementary duplexes and (d) replication of DNA.
