The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

(Legal Design) Research through Litigation
This paper proposes the concept of 'research through litigation', where a HCI researcher would bring a claim in the legal system in order to understand judicial attitudes towards technologies. Based on my seven years of experience of bringing legal cases as a computer scientist in Tribunals, I demonstrate the value of this approach by presenting ...

Applying the proto-theory of design to explain and modify the parameter analysis method of conceptual design [PDF]
This article reports on the outcomes of applying the notions provided by the reconstructed proto-theory of design, based on Aristotle’s remarks, to the parameter analysis (PA) method of conceptual design.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Researching Climate through Design
This paper explores how design can be used as a process of enquiry in climate research in collaboration with climate scientists. The research discusses the value of design in navigating the complexities of transdisciplinary climate research by engaging with the mess and researching everyday climate actions. The ordinary can be described as the realm of ...
