CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Study on residual stress and strain during rail rolling contact of straight U75V rail

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2019
The distribution of residual stress produced by straightening process in side the rail is obtained. And then the residual stress result is used as the initial condition to study the stress and strain variation rule of wheel-rail rolling contact process ...

Study on Residual Stress in Single-sided and Double-sided Friction Stir Welding of Thick Plate 2219 Aluminum Alloy

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
Welding residual stress is related to the mechanical properties and service life of components. To accurately grasp the residual stress distribution of thick plate 2219 aluminum alloy after friction stir welding (FSW), optimize the welding process, and ...

Residual Stress in Wheels: Comparison of Neutron Diffraction and Ultrasonic Methods, with Trends in RCF [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The critical damage mechanism on many GB passenger train wheels is Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) cracking in the rim. Evidence from field observations suggests that RCF damage occurs much more quickly as the wheelsets near the end of their life.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Effect of shot peening on surface fatigue life of carburized and hardened AISI 9310 spur gears [PDF]

open access: yes
Surface fatigue tests were conducted on two groups of AISI 9310 spur gears. Both groups were manufactured with standard ground tooth surfaces, with the second group subjected to an additional shot peening process on the gear tooth flanks.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
