A Constellation of Fluorescent Biosensors to Illuminate the Galaxy of Protein Kinases

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Protein kinases (PKs) are enzymes that catalyze phosphorylation of protein substrates involved in a wide variety of biological signalling pathways. This review describes the different families and mechanisms of action and regulation of protein kinases, together with the different classes of fluorescent biosensors that have been engineered and ...

Tunable Bio‐Derived Bimetallic Cu–Zn/2‐AA Metal–Organic Framework as an Efficient Electrode Modifier for Detection of Cadmium and Dopamine

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
A bio‐derived bimetallic Cu–Zn/2‐AA metal–organic framework is developed as an efficient electrode modifier for dual electrochemical sensing. The platform delivers ultrasensitive detection of cadmium and dopamine with femtomolar to attomolar limits and enhanced selectivity. The synergistic metal centers and porous structure significantly improve charge

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 6, Page 1048-1059, June 2026.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 35, 24 June 2026.
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.

Distinct Biotypes of Visual Perception in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
In a discover dataset (272 acute MDD patients), this work identifies a novel depression biotype characterized by impaired visual motion perception, using machine learning clustering. An independent dataset confirms the robustness of this biotype through cross‐validation and demonstrates its generalizability.

Redirecting Alzheimer's disease therapeutics: Multitarget drugs and complementary non‐pharmacological strategies

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder driven by intersecting pathological processes. Persistent attrition in AD drug‐development pipelines highlights the limited clinical impact of single‐target therapies and has increased interest in multi‐target approaches acting on shared biological hubs.

Clinical pharmacology and prescribing education: An updated medical school curriculum from the British Pharmacological Society

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 6, Page 1787-1808, June 2026.
Aims Prescribing is a complex, essential skill that doctors must acquire to practice medicine safely and effectively. The British Pharmacological Society has historically provided a core curriculum to guide clinical pharmacology and prescribing education in UK medical schools.
