The nature of the torus in the heavily obscured AGN Markarian 3: an X-ray study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we report the results of an X-ray monitoring campaign on the heavily obscured Seyfert galaxy Markarian 3 carried out between the fall of 2014 and the spring of 2015 with NuSTAR, Suzaku and XMM-Newton.

Atomic-scale surface demixing in a eutectic liquid BiSn alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Resonant x-ray reflectivity of the surface of the liquid phase of the Bi$_{43}$Sn$_{57}$ eutectic alloy reveals atomic-scale demixing extending over three near-surface atomic layers. Due to the absence of underlying atomic lattice which typically defines

The New Empirical Equation Describing Damping Phenomenon in Dynamically Loaded Subgrade Cohesive Soils

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The damping ratio (D) is one of the key soil parameters in geotechnical issues where the soil is subjected to dynamic loads, like machines foundation, city tram and subway traffic, and driving of sheet pile or precast pile.

ASCA Observations of the Composite Warm Absorber in NGC 3516 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We obtained X-ray spectra of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC~3516 in March 1995 using ASCA. Simultaneous far-UV observations were obtained with HUT on the Astro-2 shuttle mission. The ASCA spectrum shows a lightly absorbed power law of energy index 0.78.

Non-destructive, dynamic detectors for Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We propose and analyze a series of non-destructive, dynamic detectors for Bose-Einstein condensates based on photo-detectors operating at the shot noise limit. These detectors are compatible with real time feedback to the condensate.

MODELING OF RESONANCE EFFECTS IN SPINE WITH ADDITIONAL FIXING ELEMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2019
Subject of Research. We study the procedure of natural frequencies calculation for a system consisting of a human spine with fixing elements. Resonant effects can occur in the vicinity of such system leading to stability violation or structure ...

Photon-Assisted Quasiparticle Transport and Andreev Transport through an Interacting Quantum Dot

open access: yes, 1999
Resonant tunneling through a quantum dot coupled to superconducting reservoirs in the presence of time-dependent external voltage has been studied. A general formula of the current is derived based on the nonequilibrium Green's function technique.

Calibration and limitations of a fixed-partly fixed resonant column apparatus [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The small-strain shear modulus of soils and rocks is an important input parameter in geotechnical analyses. Its estimation using the resonant column apparatus relies on accurate knowledge of the rotational inertia of the apparatus’s active end.

Resonant Absorption of Transverse Oscillations and Associated Heating in a Solar Prominence. II- Numerical aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Transverse magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves are ubiquitous in the solar atmosphere and may be responsible for generating the Sun's million-degree outer atmosphere.
