Extracting Fractional Inspiratory Time from Electrocardiograms [PDF]
Non-invasive at-home monitoring of lung and lung airways health enables the early detection and tracking of respiratory diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Various proposed approaches estimate the respiratory rate and extract the respiratory waveform from an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal as a way to discreetly ...

Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

Usefulness of gastric aspirates for diagnosing nontuberculous mycobacteriosis
Distinguishing between nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease (NTM-PD) and pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is difficult. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of gastric aspirate examination for NTM-PD diagnosis and for differentiating NTM-PD from ...

A Novel Magnetic Respiratory Sensor for Human Healthcare [PDF]
Breathing is vital to life. Therefore, the real-time monitoring of breathing pattern of a patient is crucial to respiratory rehabilitation therapies such as magnetic resonance exams for respiratory-triggered imaging, chronic pulmonary disease treatment, and synchronized functional electrical stimulation.

NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Distortion measure of spectrograms for classification of respiratory diseases [PDF]
A new method for the classification of respiratory diseases is presented. The method is based on a novel class of features, extracted from pulmonary sounds, by parameterizing their spectrograms that are represented as surfaces, and by utilizing geometrical distortions defined with reference to these surfaces.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
