We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Response regulation in bacterial chemotaxis [PDF]
AbstractThe signal transduction system that mediates bacterial chemotaxis allows cells to moduate their swimming behavior in response to fluctuations in chemical stimuli. Receptors at the cell surface receive information from the surroundings. Signals are then passed from the receptors to cytoplasmic chemotaxis components: CheA, CheW, CheZ, CheR, and ...

Signal transduction utilizing membrane-spanning receptors and cytoplasmic regulator proteins is a fundamental process for all living organisms, but quantitative studies of the behavior of signaling proteins, such as their diffusion within a cell, are ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Characterization of two co-regulated response regulators in Clostridioides difficile
As an obligate anaerobe, Clostridioides difficile grows exclusively in the host intestinal tract, necessitating mechanisms to sense and respond to the gut environment.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The two-component system (TCS) regulates key processes in plant growth, development, and stress response. Although TCS genes have been studied in model plants such as Arabidopsis and tomato, in petunia (Petunia axillaris), a model ornamental species ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
